About The Position

With direct supervision, the Cabinet Finisher I learns and performs basic skills and functions related to aircraft cabinet finish preparation and application processes using design and engineering drawings. The role develops entry-level technical skills, knowledge of regulatory requirements, familiarity with Cabinet Finish shop tooling, and problem-solving abilities to progress toward technician-level work. The position is in the GAC Appleton First Shift Finish Shop.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Woodworking, wood finishing, or auto body and painting experience in a technical environment, or completion of a Technical Certificate in cabinet making, preferred; and/or completion in the current year of a youth apprenticeship program in the area of expertise.
Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, and lift up to 40 pounds.
Must be computer literate.
Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Able to work any shift.

Nice To Haves

Woodworking, wood finishing, or auto body and painting experience in a technical environment.
Completion of a Technical Certificate in cabinet making.
Completion in the current year of a youth apprenticeship program in the area of expertise.

Responsibilities

Learn entry-level technical skills, regulatory requirements, and tooling used in the Cabinet Finish shop under direct supervision.
Develop proficiency in preparing and finishing furniture by following safety and operating procedures and using design and engineering drawings, tools, and materials such as sandpaper, polishes, adhesives, solvents, and masking mediums.
Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off work.
Follow safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; use personal protective equipment and protect the aircraft interior (PTP).
Assist in developing and implementing related initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
