About The Position

As a Cab Crane Operator, you will operate an overhead crane from an elevated cab to move steel plates, pipe, and structural materials throughout the facility. This role requires strong hand-eye coordination, situational awareness, and a commitment to safety. You will work closely with production, welding, and yard teams to ensure materials are moved efficiently without compromising safety or product quality. This is a night shift role (6 PM – 6 AM) requiring focus, discipline, and consistent execution.

Requirements

• Proven experience operating cab-controlled overhead cranes in an industrial environment
• Strong understanding of load control, balance, and safe lifting practices
• Ability to read and respond to hand signals and radio communication
• High level of situational awareness and attention to detail
• Ability to operate smoothly and consistently in a fast-paced production environment
• Strong commitment to safety and following procedures
• Dependable and able to maintain focus during 12-hour night shifts

Nice To Haves

• Experience handling steel plate, pipe, or large structural materials
• Familiarity with rigging equipment (slings, chains, hooks, etc.)
• Prior experience in manufacturing or steel service center environments

Responsibilities

• Operate cab-controlled overhead cranes to move steel materials safely and efficiently
• Lift, position, and transport loads including plate, pipe, and structural steel
• Follow all rigging signals and communication protocols with ground personnel
• Inspect crane equipment and rigging before use to ensure safe operation
• Maintain precise control to prevent load swing, damage, or safety hazards
• Support production flow by staging materials for welding, fitting, and processing
• Identify and report equipment issues or unsafe conditions immediately
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times
