About The Position

Tryfacta is seeking a CA – RN - MED/SURG for our client in Arcata CA 955. This is a 13-week contract assignment. The position involves providing safe, compassionate, and patient-centered nursing care to adult Med/Surg patients. Responsibilities include assessing patients' conditions, monitoring vital signs, administering medications and therapies, developing care plans, monitoring for complications, performing routine procedures, maintaining documentation, collaborating with the healthcare team, and educating patients and families. The role also requires adherence to hospital policies, infection-control procedures, and patient-safety standards, with a specific focus on providing care during 12-hour night shifts and participating in holiday coverage.

Requirements

  • Current and active California RN License
  • Minimum 3 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
  • BLS certification – required
  • ACLS certification – required
  • Experience caring for adult Med/Surg patients
  • Ability to work 3 × 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
  • Ability to work 36 hours/week
  • Willingness to provide holiday coverage
  • Recent negative TB screening within 12 months of the contract start date
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and patient-care skills
  • Ability to accurately document patient care using CPSI/Evident EMR
  • Strong teamwork and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate, and patient-centered nursing care to adult Med/Surg patients.
  • Assess patients' conditions, monitor vital signs, and identify changes in health status.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies as ordered.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Monitor patients for complications and promptly communicate changes to physicians and the healthcare team.
  • Perform wound care, pain management, and other routine Med/Surg nursing procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the CPSI/Evident EMR.
  • Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, discharge instructions, and ongoing care.
  • Follow hospital policies, infection-control procedures, and patient-safety standards.
  • Provide effective care during 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) and participate in required holiday coverage
