About The Position

Space Dynamics Laboratory’s (SDL's) C4ISR Systems Division is looking for a leader to serve as the Software Integrity Functional Manager, overseeing this specialized technical discipline within the C4ISR functional matrix to support the Division's mission and customers. This role reports directly to the C4ISR Senior Technical Manager and balances responsibilities for day-to-day resource allocation, process improvement, and staff development while maintaining a hands-on technical role to contribute to program success. A Functional Manager leads a specialized technical discipline within the division, handling day-to-day resource allocation, process improvement, and staff development, while also contributing technically to programs. This position will cover up to 25% of the successful candidate's time on an overhead account. Their remaining time will need to be covered by continued technical work on programs. The Software Integrity Functional Manager provides functional leadership and oversight for Software Test, Test Engineering, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), and DevSecOps teams. This role is responsible for establishing quality standards, testing strategies, automation practices, security integration, and continuous delivery processes across software development efforts. The manager drives software reliability, security, compliance, and operational excellence while supporting team development, technical best practices, and cross-functional collaboration. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of experience or an advanced degree with at least 8 years of experience.
  • Relevant experience with a highly technical organization performing training, coaching/mentoring technical personnel, performance management, resource management, and conflict resolution.
  • Aerospace related work experience / program management.
  • Skilled in verbal and written communications.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Software Integrity discipline within the C4ISR functional matrix.
  • Provide functional leadership and oversight for Software Test, Test Engineering, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), and DevSecOps teams.

  • Implement training, mentoring, and coaching programs to enhance team skills.
  • Facilitate opportunities for skill and career development within the team, aligning individual goals with the Division's strategic direction.
  • Support supervisors in addressing performance management concerns in a way that promotes accountability and growth.
  • Develop supervisors' leadership capabilities to enhance team management and performance.
  • Drive employee engagement, retention, and satisfaction through compensation and strategic recognition.
  • Assist in developing and refining engineering processes within the C4ISR Systems Division to support division goals while ensuring compliance with lab-level policies and standards.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration between group leads and labs, establishing processes that support efficient program execution.
  • Conduct independent technical reviews to maintain high standards of quality and integrity within the division.
