About The Position

The C.N.A. Float provides basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff at Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute. The role supports patients on the adult acute admissions unit, geriatric unit, and extended rehabilitation service unit as part of an interdisciplinary team. Certified Nurse Aides help maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment and use specialized training to promote mental wellness and recovery. This is a part-time hourly/wage position paying $21.74 per hour. Hourly employees may not work more than 29 hours per week and are limited to 1,500 hours per year. These positions are not eligible for benefits.

Requirements

• Maintain Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) certification in good standing with the Virginia State Board of Nursing.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a psychiatric or healthcare facility, acute care, long-term care, or correctional setting.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff.
• Feed, bathe, dress, and groom patients; move patients; and change linens.
• Transfer or transport patients as needed.
• Provide quality care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Maintain accountability in a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment.
• Create healthy interpersonal interactions on the adult acute admissions, geriatric, and extended rehabilitation service units.
• Observe and report feedback regarding interventions, treatments, behaviors, physical condition, emotional well-being, and other situations.
• Document and communicate relevant information.
• Use specialized training to promote mental wellness and recovery.
