About The Position

The Riverside Transit Agency is recruiting for "C" Mechanic positions in the Maintenance Department. The "C" Mechanic will perform periodic and emergency maintenance procedures on all Agency vehicles assigned (cars, vans, trucks, and buses) as described under Essential Duties/Responsibilities. Please be advised that this may involve assignment at either our Riverside or Hemet locations. Applicants must be available to work 7 days per week, including holidays and all shifts.

Requirements

Graduation from high school or its equivalent with at least 1 year of experience in maintaining either autos, buses or heavy equipment.
Completion of a minimum of classroom instruction consisting of three courses at an accredited college (repair of diesel engines, automotive, heavy duty or transit vehicles).
Must possess a valid non-restricted California driver's license
Must be able to obtain a Class B license and medical certificate.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
A current valid non-restricted Class C Driver's License is required.
Obtain an official DMV driving history printout (issued not more than 30 days prior to date of application).
DMV driving history must be clear of suspensions for any reason within the past five (5) years.
DMV driving history must have no more than three (3) points within the past five (5) years.
DMV driving history must have no more than two (2) point violations.
No accidents which applicant contributed to cause within 3 years from application date.
Have appeared in court as required.
May be required to pass job related skills test(s) (Written, Oral, Practical).
Past year performance record will be reviewed: Discipline other than attendance & accidents - only 1 written warning in last year.
Must have zero additional disciplinary actions (Further Written Warnings, Final Warnings, Suspensions).
Must have no more than 1 Late Arrival within the last 12 months.
Must have no more than 1 Attendance Point in the last year.
Preventable Accidents - only 1 written warning within the last year.
Performance Appraisal ratings must be at or above "Meets Standards."
Applications who request to transfer to a different department may be eligible to do so after 1 year of service.

Advancement will be determined by qualification (as listed above) or by seniority in cases where qualification is deemed equal.

Responsibilities

Assist "A" and "B" Mechanics as necessary
Operate Agency vehicles as necessary (non-revenue service)
Make minor road calls (brake adjustments, flasher or bulb replacements, etc.) as needed
Maintain proper maintenance and inventory records
Assist Servicers when necessary in the servicing of vehicles and the performing of other related tasks as required
