About The Position

ArcGIS Enterprise provides mapping and analytics capabilities to government and private organizations for workflows such as asset management, environmental impact assessments, and digital twin creation. As part of the Enterprise team, this role contributes to relational and graph data information models that form the core framework of ArcGIS capabilities. The work involves developing data source providers in C/C++ so ArcGIS can integrate with leading relational and NoSQL database platforms, while collaborating with experienced developers and mentors.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience developing commercial enterprise software.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++ and/or Java, including memory management, multithreading, concurrency, and performance optimization.
  • Experience developing web applications and services, with knowledge of object-oriented design, concurrency, and common software design patterns.
  • Good understanding of relational database management systems, including database architecture, storage and indexing, query processing, transaction management, and concurrency control.
  • Understanding of database connectivity technologies and APIs such as JDBC, ODBC, and native database client interfaces.
  • Familiarity with database transaction models, isolation levels, locking, deadlocks, and distributed transaction concepts.
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging complex software, including analyzing logs, investigating memory and performance issues, and diagnosing concurrency-related problems.
  • Experience with software development tools and practices, including source control systems such as Git, build systems, automated testing, and continuous integration.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a STEM-related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a STEM-related field.
  • Database programming skills, including familiarity with ODBC, JDBC, and Visual Studio.
  • Experience with AWS RDS, Aurora, or Azure SQL databases.
  • Previous involvement in a large software development project.
  • Academic training in GIS and/or knowledge of GIS/Esri software.
  • Familiarity with Esri products such as ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro.

Responsibilities

  • Build core data management and access frameworks supporting ArcGIS relational and graph information models.
  • Research and extend ArcGIS support for relational and NoSQL database management system technologies.
  • Build full-stack software components using industry-standard modern design patterns, development methodologies, and deployment models.
  • Collaborate with developers and product engineers throughout the development process.
