Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in purchasing, supply chain, or another relevant field
  • Additional experience may be substituted for education requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Negotation
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
  • Microsoft Suite, especially Excel

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and selects vendor to procure requisitioned commodities, meeting criteria such as price, quantity, quality, and delivery dates
  • Places orders and solves problems with orders with a high level of customer service
  • Analyzes purchase requisitions and contacts initiator to clarify or complete information, delivery, existing open contracts, and competitive bidding
  • Ensures purchasing procedures are consistent with company policy and works to train requestors on initiating requisitions and orders appropriately
  • Maintains materials master data such as correct pricing, inventory levels, contact information, and lead time in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to ensure future order request accuracy
  • Manages project lead times and provides up-to-date information to project manager when needed
  • Participates in the identification and implementation of continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with suppliers and represents the company to those supplies with a high level of professionalism
  • Ensures compliance to company policies and procedures, including Purchasing Ethics, corporate standards, audit rules, laws, etc. in order to mitigate company risk
  • May mentor new team members in the Company’s systems and processes
  • Other duties as assigned
