About The Position

The Buyer 2 purchases equipment, parts, materials, and tools needed to build, maintain, and operate LNG, CNG, hydrogen, and other fueling stations and renewable natural gas processing facilities. The role plans requirements, reviews purchase requests, independently generates purchase orders for warehouses, supply houses, and service vehicles, and supports special projects and sourcing assignments. Buyers manage assigned commodities with attention to cost, quality, delivery, and inventory.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily and independently.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals and professional journals; write reports and business correspondence; and present information and respond to questions.
Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts and apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems, work with limited standardization, and recommend solutions to day-to-day challenges.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and strong Excel skills.
Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, make sound decisions, work autonomously as part of a team, and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

Deep knowledge and experience with station equipment, electrical and mechanical components, piping, and construction materials.
Hands-on experience with cradle-to-grave, project-based procurement, including low-volume/high-value assets and high-volume commodity items.
Experience coordinating logistics and supporting RFP development, proposal evaluation, and bid analysis.
Microsoft D365 ERP software experience.
CPM certification.

Responsibilities

Assist Construction and Operations with compiling information and records for material purchase orders; maintain records of purchases, interdepartmental transfers, prices, deliveries, and inventory.
Use the operating system’s MRP module to recommend inventory levels for central and remote warehouses and service vehicles.
Follow buying procedures and controls to ensure compliance with procurement contracts and agreements, independently creating purchase orders and meeting delivery service-level agreements.
Review and negotiate supplier prices, specifications, and delivery dates; process orders with existing suppliers and work with the Procurement Supervisor to identify, vet, and onboard vendors.
Review supplier performance against cost, delivery, and quality criteria, and proactively identify cost-saving opportunities.
Assess and recommend inventory spending to support departmental cost-saving initiatives.
Prepare invitation-to-bid forms and work with the Procurement Supervisor to recommend item or vendor changes that support strategic savings and improved delivery.
Plan for long-lead-time items, increasing costs, and supply-chain disruptions to protect the business and ensure continued supply.
Track and manage supplier performance to anticipate and resolve delays to service or project milestones and cost escalations.
Initiate supplier Quarterly Business Reviews based on KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost, and quality.
Support implementation of company systems, policies, metrics, and procedures for safe, ethical, and effective operations.
Prepare and process warranty documentation, submit claims, follow up with manufacturers, and adjust and resubmit denied claims.
Perform other duties as assigned.
