About The Position

A buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing products or materials to ensure timely delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness for an organization. Place and expedite purchase orders and work closely with internal departments to clarify their purchasing needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Three years’ buying experience in a service related environment preferred.
Must have knowledge of standard purchasing procedures and practices, computer skills, and effective written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

Identify and review received requisitions.
Ensure that products meet quality standards and are delivered according to demand following purchasing procurement guidelines.
Develop alternate sources, ensuring continuity of supply, consistency of quality, and competitive pricing.
Advise management of market conditions and supplier-based activity that could affect pricing and delivery.
Gain familiarity with the end use of assigned commodities, leading to the possibility of alternative materials or specifications.
Review invoices when price and terms do not agree with the purchase order.
Maintain accurate records of supplier information, purchase orders, invoices, and delivery schedules.
Ensure compliance with contractual agreements and internal policies.
Month-end reconciliation of credit card transactions and expense reporting.
Generate effective communication, good relationships and positive relationships with suppliers and co-workers, promoting professionalism, objectivity, and fairness.
Work closely with internal departments such as finance, day programs, education, and residential to align purchasing decisions with business objectives.
Perform related duties as assigned and all other duties.
