About The Position

We’re seeking an analytical Buyer to join our team in Lincolnshire, IL. This onsite role offers an exciting opportunity to help shape this growing department in our organization. As a Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing materials, parts, supplies, and equipment in accordance with established purchasing policies and procedures while optimizing price, quality, delivery, and terms. You will review purchase requisitions to ensure proper authorization, identify potential suppliers, and issue requests for quotations. In this role, you will participate in the evaluation and selection of suppliers, issue purchase orders, and follow up on orders to expedite deliveries as needed. You will also monitor inventory levels and initiate replenishment orders within established guidelines. To be successful, you will need a working technical knowledge of the goods and services being purchased, enabling informed sourcing and purchasing decisions. This is a first-level professional position with direct responsibility for purchasing activities totaling less than $4 million annually. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering or a related field is required or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good verbal, written and listening communication skills with emphasis on phone skills are a must.
  • Aptitude with office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Organization and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Purchasing materials, parts, supplies, and equipment in accordance with established purchasing policies and procedures while optimizing price, quality, delivery, and terms.
  • Reviewing purchase requisitions to ensure proper authorization.
  • Identifying potential suppliers and issuing requests for quotations.
  • Participating in the evaluation and selection of suppliers.
  • Issuing purchase orders.
  • Following up on orders to expedite deliveries as needed.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and initiating replenishment orders within established guidelines.
  • Reviewing item specifications against supplier capability to determine best supplier alignment.
  • Placing orders for a variety of materials and supplies primarily with established vendors.
  • Interviewing or contacting supplier salespeople, securing bids and reviewing bids with purchasing manager.
  • Expediting orders as required.
  • Continually pursuing new or alternative sources for supplies ensuring cost effectiveness of purchases.
  • Adhering and complying with state and federal law, the ISO Quality program and procedures, and the safety program.
