About The Position

The Buyer is responsible for procuring direct, indirect, and shop supplies, services, and equipment. This role involves planning and issuing Purchase Orders (POs) to suppliers based on material requirements, driving cost savings through negotiation, alternate sourcing, and process improvements. The Buyer will also focus on inventory reduction using lean principles, improving material flow with lean manufacturing systems, and developing system improvements in Oracle and Excel to support production and reporting. This position serves as the first point of escalation for supplier issues and ensures the effective transition of new materials into the supply chain. Additionally, the Buyer will resolve Accounts Payable (A/P) issues.

Requirements

  • BS/BA Degree with a minimum of three to five years experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experiences.
  • Ability to read, analyze and negotiate contracts, strategic agreements, financial reports and legal documents
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems
  • Excellent communications skills with business partners in all levels of the organization in a cross cultural environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications of CPM and/or CPIM are preferred.
  • Lean experience is preferred.
  • Oracle experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Generate cost savings via negotiating, alternate sourcing or process improvements.
  • Drive inventory reduction using lean principles internally and externally.
  • Improve material flow thru lean manufacturing systems internally and with external suppliers.
  • Develop and implement system improvements through Oracle and Excel to better support production, reporting of metrics and improve material flow.
  • First point of escalation to resolve supplier issues and concerns.
  • Effective and efficient transition of new materials into the supply chain.
  • Resolve A/P issues.
