About The Position

Responsible for overseeing the expenditure base of $20.0 to $30.0 million per year for materials and/or services to support Boyd Niagara’s purchasing program. This role involves source selection and procurement functions for indirect materials, services, fixed assets, tooling, and select production materials. The Buyer will ensure procurement activities are conducted at competitive cost, quality, and delivery levels consistent with company policy and performance standards. Key responsibilities include planning, scheduling, inventory control, initiating purchase orders, analyzing quotations, negotiating prices and terms, and coordinating with various departments and suppliers. The position also supports enterprise-wide sourcing programs, studies market trends, and visits supplier facilities to qualify them and resolve issues. Additionally, the Buyer must ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company standards, and contribute to process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Business Administration, Economics, and/or Engineering or equivalent in relevant work experience preferred
  • 5 years of progressively responsible Purchasing and Material Control experience in a manufacturing environment experience required
  • Knowledge of Purchasing and Accounting practices required
  • Due to federal contract obligations, must be a USA citizen or US Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for source selection and procurement functions associated with Boyd Niagara’s needs for indirect material and services, fixed assets and tooling, and select production materials and services in a cost quality and delivery competitive levels consistent with Boyd Niagara’s policy and performance standards
  • Complete the timely planning, scheduling of receipt, and inventory control of the products and services as assigned consistent with Manufacturing, Accounting and Production Information Control System (Oracle) requirements or as appropriately concluded with a Requisitioner.
  • Initiate purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, and/or special tools; arrange for submission and inspection of sample products as required; provide close coordination with tool stores and plant engineering to ensure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities
  • Secure and analyze quotations, negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities
  • Work closely to advance enterprise-wide sourcing programs as appropriate
  • Study market prices and trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities and advises Boyd Niagara activities
  • Meet with prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics inventory control and management, and negotiate price and delivery terms
  • Coordinate the planning of recent schedules and inventory control parameters for the assigned products and services consistent with Oracle requirements or as arranged with the requisitioner
  • Coordinate quality matters and engineering changes/developments between Boyd Niagara activities and Suppliers as appropriate (Drawing and/or Rev changes)
  • As directed, organize and implement strategies to accomplish Small Business and Disadvantage Business Sourcing Programs consistent with Boyd Niagara guidelines.
  • Visit Suppliers’ facilities to qualify them as new sources and assist in the resolution of production, design, quality, and/or delivery problems
  • Ensures the efficient and safe operation of all office equipment, including upkeep, maintenance, and safe operation
  • Knowledge, understanding, compliance, and enforcement of all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations relating to job duties
  • Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with Customer and Boyd Niagara standards, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge, understanding and compliance with government audit requirements.
  • Supplier surveys, On time delivery reporting, vendor quality reporting, vendor visits, and approved supplier list.
  • Make recommendations to implement improved processes
  • Provide feedback to management concerning possible problem or areas of improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned
