This position reports to: Maintenance Manager Your role and responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. Each day, you will ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying new suppliers in cooperation with the relevant category team. The work model for the role is: Onsite - this job is on 2nd shift but will train on day shift. This role is contributing to the success of the Busway business in the ABB plant in Selmer, TN.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Business or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years in a purchasing or buyer role with a proven track record of managing procurement processes from requisition to delivery.
  • Direct experience purchasing Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) supplies in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience setting up and managing a tool crib or stockroom, including inventory systems, part organization, and checkout processes.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) preferred; ability to leverage systems for parts tracking, work orders, and cost reporting.
  • Must hold a valid and current US work visa or be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory operations – Establish and maintain a well-organized tool crib with efficient systems for part location, checkout, and cost tracking to support continuous plant operations.
  • Control costs and reporting – Track stocking costs, generate monthly reports separating machine spare parts from MRO costs, and provide cost-per-machine analysis for accountability.
  • Execute inventory discipline – Conduct cycle counts for high-use spare parts, maintain bills of materials for major machinery, and manage die inventory and associated costs.
  • Optimize procurement – Source indirect materials and services for the plant, obtain competitive quotes on high-value items, and ensure all purchases meet approval requirements and system standards.
  • Manage supplier relationships – Negotiate agreements with key suppliers, monitor pricing and contract terms, recommend frame agreements, and evaluate bids for optimal value.
  • Process purchase orders efficiently – Initiate and track POs according to requisitions and standard procedures, confirm delivery timelines, and monitor supplier performance against requirements.
  • Ensure proper receipt and issuance – Verify all materials and services are received, inventoried, and issued correctly with proper charges to specified equipment or departments by month-end.
  • Drive operational support – Partner with operations to stock critical parts, manage emergency acquisitions, and maintain systems that enable quick part location and checkout to minimize downtime.
