About The Position

The Buyer will be responsible for the purchasing of raw materials, services, and supplies for the business in alignment with current practices and strategies set forth by the Purchasing Manager and Category Managers. Requires review of inventory across the manufacturing network, works with the business unit to determine which products the business needs, track the order’s progress after purchasing it, then ensure this item is received into inventory, and processed for payment. This position will report directly to the Purchasing Manager and some travel may be required. This position is hybrid eligible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent education. In lieu of a degree, eight or more years of relevant experience may suffice.
  • Minimum 2 years of procurement or supply chain experience.
  • Exhibit strong leadership, executive functioning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning programs and tools.
  • A willingness to travel domestically as much as 10% of the time
  • Eligible for hybrid work (the hybrid work schedule is provisional and may be modified, based on business needs)

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or similar qualification a plus
  • SAP, PowerBI, and Microsoft Office experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to work with team members, clients, and suppliers.
  • Assist Category Managers to formulate requests for proposal/quotations/information, bid analysis, tenders, and risk evaluations.
  • An understanding of purchase order software platforms.
  • Good attention to detail to ensure all purchase orders are accurate while overseeing order placement and delivery.
  • Sets the open-to-buy plan to make inventory decisions.
  • Assist the Purchasing Team to conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities.
  • Meets with manufacturing, demand planning, Integrated Business Planning and other relevant teams to gain feedback and align purchasing activities to manufacturing and sales goals.
  • Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to analyze performance and make improvements.
  • Support the procurement team to work with suppliers and plants to resolve any supplier performance issues, including delivery, quality, or customer service.
  • Work with the Logistics Group to maintain cost effective and efficient movement of raw materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate/troubleshoot central purchasing and supply chain issues.
  • Attend supplier meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
