About The Position

Rausch and Pausch LP (RAPA) is hiring a Buyer in Auburn, AL. The ideal candidate will have one or more years of experience as a Buyer, or in a related field, preferably in an automotive manufacturing setting. RAPA offers a family-oriented culture and is an innovative company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferably in engineering, business or related discipline (technical aptitude desirable)
  • Purchasing experience of at least 1 year, preferably in automotive manufacturing, or related experience.
  • International sourcing experience.
  • Strong negotiation skills (cost increase avoidance, long term agreements and contracts).
  • Proven cost reduction, continuous improvement & VA/VE experience.
  • Professional experience within a global organization, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Common business practices relating to the purchase, pricing, terms, shipment, taxes, and payment of commodities.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and handle multiple projects and assignments with proficiency.
  • Ability to travel as required up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier negotiations and preparation of contracts, including annual contract renewals.
  • Complete tasks in accordance with project timelines and provide detailed updates in Project meetings.
  • Accountable for all project purchasing activities including supplier qualification, negotiations and supplier selection.
  • Support Global Purchasing Suppliers and align with Director of Purchasing and team to determine purchasing strategy.
  • Visit suppliers to build thorough knowledge of their processes and foster relationship building.
  • Coordinate with Supplier Development to closely monitor and develop new suppliers.
  • Issue RFQs to suppliers, conduct analysis on supplier quotes and competitively source lowest delivered total cost with rationale for prototype and serial production parts.
  • Place Purchase Orders for the purchase of components, materials, and investments.
  • Negotiate long term strategic sourcing agreements with suppliers.
  • Serve as a liaison between Suppliers and RAPA Customers.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement and VA/VE workshops with suppliers to improve efficiency and reduce costs for new projects.
  • Facilitate technical review of components with suppliers and R&D to finalize technical requirements.
  • Organize, update and retain product information files and all purchasing related records.
  • Research and identify potential new suppliers and facilitate supplier approval process.
  • Monitor cost status of each component and consistently negotiate with supply base to stabilize costs.
  • Authorize purchase orders up to $5,000.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
