The location in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada, is seeking talent to fill the position of Buyer at the Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp Mill. This job is Permanent Fulltime. Reporting to the Supply Chain & Logistics Manager, the Buyer plays an important role in supporting day-to-day operations across the mill. In this position, you’ll be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment, and services to meet the needs of multiple departments. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure the right products and services are delivered on time and meet expectations. While established purchasing procedures and policies guide the role, you’ll also be trusted to use your judgment and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

  • Purchasing designation or certification is an asset, but not required
  • Experience in procurement or an industrial setting is an asset, but not required
  • Comfortable using computers and basic programs (email, spreadsheets, data entry systems)
  • Willingness to learn new systems and processes
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive mindset and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase supplies, services, and materials to support operational needs
  • Review and evaluate supplier and contractor proposals
  • Communicate business needs to vendors and coordinate sourcing activities
  • Review purchasing requests to ensure alignment with company policies and standards
  • Manage workload and purchasing backlog to meet timelines
  • Monitor inventory levels and take action as needed
  • Build positive working relationships with internal teams and external partners
  • Participate in cross-training within the Purchasing department
  • Take part in a rotating weekend on-call schedule
