The buyer is responsible for procuring components to support production and customer needs, along with inventory control. The buyer will plan, order, and manage incoming goods/services from select suppliers to achieve cost and service objectives. They will select suppliers to best fulfill Akron Brass needs (price, delivery, quality, etc) and work within the capacity of a service organization to resolve daily operating issues with suppliers and internal stakeholders. The buyer will analyze and recommend opportunities for cost reduction, supplier value added resources, inventory management, and quality enhancement. They will drive for customer satisfaction, both external and internal, through timely results on situational needs and manage supplier relationships to best achieve predetermined goals including implementing and overseeing supplier specific strategies. The buyer will also assist in the negotiation of price and terms/conditions including basic understanding of contract management and driving to agreed goals, assist in the evaluation of preferred suppliers, and identify opportunities for process development, personally, as well as intra- and inter-departmentally. Additionally, they will identify opportunities for inventory improvement (lead time, MOQ, reorder point).
