About The Position

This role ensures the continuous flow of incoming raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies. The Buyer / Upstream Planner will manage supplier contacts and networks through the purchasing database (Supply Side Platform Portal), manage the replenishment backlog (creation and rescheduling of purchase orders), and coordinate Open Purchase Order Management and/or Order scheduling. This position is responsible for managing the upstream backorder portfolio, component shortages, and ensuring material availability. The role involves monitoring and improving supplier performance through established KPIs, working with suppliers on late orders and confirmation details, and taking daily action regarding material requirements planning (MRP) messages, escalating when issues are repeated. The Buyer / Upstream Planner will also actively participate in continuous improvement and short interval management (SIM).

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in Purchasing/Supply Chain
  • Proficient in ERP systems - SAP highly preferred
  • Proficient with using computers and advanced knowledge with applications (access, excel)
  • Strong drive and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently, good time management, organizational skills
  • Strong relationship and collaborative management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related field preferred, not required. Equivalent experience and skills can be substituted for education
  • Strong negotiation skills are a plus.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience performing cost analysis, for example TCO (total cost of ownership).
