About The Position

The Buyer / Purchasing Procurement role reviews and monitors approved purchase requisitions for accuracy, tracks price trends, and maintains records of current and potential suppliers, materials, and prices. The position develops and maintains working relationships with vendors and internal customers to ensure adequate sources of supply and obtain cost-effective, quality products and services in accordance with corporate policies and procedures. The Buyer works with team members to implement accepted product conversions, system changes, and process-improvement opportunities. The role supports delivery of high-quality, cost-effective products and services in support of Hartford HealthCare’s core values and strategic plan, and keeps abreast of Supply Chain Management policies and procedures. The position reports directly to the System Senior Director of Purchasing.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Five years of purchasing experience in healthcare.
APICS certification.

Responsibilities

Review and monitor approved purchase requisitions for accuracy.
Monitor price trends and maintain files and records of current and potential suppliers, materials, and prices.
Develop and maintain working relationships with vendors and internal customers to maintain adequate sources of supply.
Obtain cost-effective, quality products and services in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
Work with team members to implement accepted product conversions, system changes, and process-improvement opportunities.
Dispatch purchase orders.
Resolve invoice match exceptions.
Support supply back orders.
Support Clinical Value Analysis Teams.
Keep abreast of Supply Chain Management policies and procedures.
