About The Position

To carry out all required aspects of the procurement and supply function for the acquisition of common aerospace production goods and services, while ensuring value is maximized at all times. Make sure all goods and services are ordered in accordance with specifications as provided by requestor. Reporting to the CSH Material Supervisor, this position will liaise directly with strategic & non-strategic suppliers as well as internal stakeholders in Production Planners, LCMMs, Production Support (Paint/Process, Component Repair and Facilities), Inventory Management, Warehousing and Subcontractors as well as functional areas such as Contracts and Finance.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma preferably in business administration or commerce and 5 to 7 years experience in the aerospace industry or relevant military supply management experience or experience working with Government Procurement
  • Strong background and comprehensive understanding of supply chain issues and deliverables and fundamental knowledge of purchasing processes and systems.
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities without jeopardizing timelines.
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems and Inventory Management Control
  • Skill in using computers for spreadsheet analysis and communications
  • Experience identifying problems, assessing risks and identifying challenges within the procurement and contracting areas
  • Respect for accuracy and detail
  • Strong team player with a willingness and capability to lead others.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain Public Works Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and Transport Canada security clearances

Nice To Haves

  • JDE knowledge would be an asset
  • Preference given to candidates pursuing the program of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC).

Responsibilities

  • Planning, implementation and management of key supplier contracts
  • Provide assistance in developing short- and long-term plans to meet procurement and contracting requirements.
  • Advising employees and managers on policies related to procurement and contracting
  • Identify effective cost savings solutions such as determination of economic order quantities, better value sources and procurement methods
  • Prepares RFP/RFQ, submit to selected suppliers, prepare cost analysis, review quotes from suppliers, negotiate with suppliers, prepare recommendations, implement and set up new suppliers
  • Expedites, maintains, updates edits and resolve supplier issues related to purchase orders & credit application and invoice reconciliation
  • Prepare and release purchase orders to potential suppliers
  • Monitor and report suppliers performance
  • Review and approve or recommend policies and procedures
  • Participate in Quality Assurance Materiel Review Boards as required
  • Understand moderately complex technical drawings and specifications
  • Provide oral and written reports and correspondence as required, internal and external
  • Attend industry exhibitions as required and meet industry representatives on behalf of the company
  • Supervise and train assigned junior and intermediate buyers to include monitoring performance and preparing evaluation reports
  • Carry out special assignments as required
  • Participate in departmental and program review meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
