About The Position

The Buyer/Planner plays a critical role in ensuring robust and uninterrupted supply chains for Nice-Pak and our 3rd party manufacturing facilities. Using a data-driven approach, this role works closely with Value Stream leaders, Corporate Supply Chain, and Strategic Procurement Teams to balance cost, quality, and availability. This position touches nearly every area of the business, requiring constant collaboration with Operations, Distribution, Marketing, Customer Service, Commercialization, and Quality to deliver products to our customers on time. The Buyer/Planner is the linchpin between production needs, supplier relationships, and customer expectations, ensuring both efficiency and service excellence. This position works directly with a wide variety of collaborators across multiple departments and locations.

Requirements

  • An associate's or bachelor’s degree is preferred in a related field (experience may be substituted).
  • Minimum 2–5 years in purchasing, planning, or related fields.
  • Regulated environments (cGMP, ISO, FDA) preferred.
  • Strong MRP expertise (BPCS/LX preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, prioritization, and execution abilities.
  • A strong drive for results, high-quality standards, and collaborative problem-solving with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing and scheduling activities for assigned Value Streams at the Indiana facility.
  • Place purchase orders, resolve capacity conflicts, and maintain effective supplier relations.
  • Oversee production schedules based on Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP).
  • Support product portfolio transitions by minimizing obsolescence and maintaining service levels.
  • Monitor forecasts and master data to close supply gaps before they impact customers.
  • Communicate delivery changes to customer service teams.
  • Partner with suppliers to implement cost-effective programs such as consignment or JIT delivery.
  • Approve Finished Product Specifications (FPS) in MasterControl and order raw materials to support new product launches.
  • Drive cost reduction strategies and contribute to cross-functional projects.
