Requirements

Three or more years of experience in key supply chain functions, including strategic sourcing, cost analysis, supplier negotiation, purchasing, and quality coordination.
Manufacturing environment experience is required.
Excellent understanding of Lean principles, including Kanban systems, standardized work, and continuous improvement practices.
Hands-on experience with various materials and components, including steel, aluminum, plastics, and electrical or electronic parts.
Good knowledge of purchasing, logistics, planning, and material management processes.
Ability to read technical drawings and provide concrete feedback to suppliers regarding conforming and non-conforming materials.
Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Hands-on knowledge of ERP systems and commonly used business software.

Nice To Haves

Experience in the electrical, lighting, or related industrial manufacturing industry.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Familiarity with Copilot or other AI-powered productivity tools.

Responsibilities

Support new product development activities related to procurement, purchasing, and quality coordination.
Establish and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships, particularly with the design team in Montreal and the procurement team in Oceanside.
Interpret technical drawings and communicate technical requirements and expectations to partner suppliers.
Negotiate pricing, lead times, and order quantities to meet project timelines and cost objectives.
Issue purchase orders and follow up with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time deliveries.
Expedite material procurement as needed to meet engineering and design deadlines.
Coordinate prototype shipments to Montreal for inspection, in collaboration with the design team.
Coordinate part transfers and material availability for Production Readiness Reviews (PPRs) and pilot productions in Oceanside.
Provide suppliers with feedback on conforming and non-conforming material quality and support corrective actions as needed.
Perform inspections using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and gauges to verify compliance with quality and safety requirements.
Document inspection results, maintain digital quality records, and prepare reports, including documentation for non-conforming materials in Microsoft Excel.
Communicate inspection findings, report defect trends or anomalies, and collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve issues.
Validate assemblies and configurations against technical documentation to ensure accuracy and production readiness.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and inventory management.
