Requirements

  • College diploma or University degree
  • Three plus years of experience in supply chain management
  • CPP enrollment (preferred)
  • Supplier relationship development, negotiation skills, excellent written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to work effectively within teams
  • Basic product knowledge and understanding of BW Canada’s business processes
  • Proficient in most business related software applications
  • Knowledge of department procedures and QAM/QPM
  • Some capability with regard to risk management and quality tools

Responsibilities

  • Purchase assigned commodities and services; Obtain vendor quotations for materials, equipment, services, etc.; Review and analyze quote to ensure clarity and accuracy of technical and commercial items.
  • Visit with suppliers to stay current with vendor capabilities; Develop strategic product/commodity procurement and develop new vendors considering all business factors including technical, market, commercial, scheduling and quality factors.
  • Review purchase requisitions to assure scope is properly specified; Ensure sufficient lead times are given; Maintain internal interface; Coordinate the shipment of free issue materials as required.
  • Review cost estimates with Proposal Management personnel in order to prepare cost estimate for commodities and services required for the proposal; Create Purchase Commitment form and review supplier bids for vendor selection
  • Maintain an on-going value analysis and cost reduction effort for the assigned commodities; Expedite all open orders and search for potential suppliers, negotiating cost reduction with existing supply base.
  • Arrange and participate in meetings between suppliers and BWC engineering, operations, and project management personnel; Provide supplier corrective action resolution and supplier quality improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable external codes, regulations and guidelines as well as internal standards set by BWC.
