About The Position

We're seeking an experienced and strategic Buyer & Inventory Specialist to lead our purchasing strategy and product assortment for our fine jewelry business. This role is responsible for identifying market trends, sourcing exceptional merchandise, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring our inventory aligns with customer demand and business objectives. The ideal candidate is analytical, decisive, and an excellent negotiator who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment. You'll work closely with leadership, merchandising, marketing, and sales teams while leading and developing the buying function.

Requirements

  • Fluent in both Spanish and English.
  • 5+ years of retail buying experience (fine jewelry experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate inventory performance, monitor inventory turns, optimize stock levels, and make data-driven purchasing decisions.
  • Experience with category management, assortment planning, and maintaining the right product mix to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Ability to identify and anticipate emerging consumer, fashion, and jewelry trends, translating market demand into strategic buying decisions.
  • Strong understanding of retail KPIs, including sell-through, gross margin, inventory turnover, and open-to-buy planning.
  • Exceptional negotiation, vendor relationship management, and sourcing skills.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with merchandising, marketing, and store operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced skills preferred) and inventory management software; experience with The Edge is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel 3–5 times per year to industry trade shows, vendor meetings, and buying events.
  • Passion for the jewelry industry and delivering an exceptional customer

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain, or a related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute buying strategies that support sales, profitability, and inventory goals.
  • Source and curate fine jewelry collections that align with our brand and customer preferences.
  • Stay ahead of jewelry and fashion trends to ensure our assortment remains competitive and relevant.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors while negotiating pricing, terms, and exclusive opportunities.
  • Analyze sales performance, inventory levels, and customer demand to make data-driven purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Merchandising teams on product launches, promotions, and inventory planning.
  • Develop pricing and markdown strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Lead and mentor members of the buying team while driving continuous improvement in purchasing processes.
  • Attend industry trade shows, vendor meetings, and conferences as needed.
