We are currently seeking a Senior Buyer who will be responsible for the Value Stream, including preparing and processing requisitions and placing purchase orders for the procurement of commodities and supplies necessary for the manufacturing of our products. This role is responsible for alignment with the Production Planner to ensure materials are readily available to support the production plan. This position reports to the Senior Supply Chain Manager and is part of the Supply Chain team located in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is an on-site role.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelors’ degree with 2+ years of experience in a tactical or strategic procurement role, supporting manufacturing or project management, or a master’s degree with 3+ years’ experience or Doctorate degree
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Excel, with the ability to learn new programs that are job specific.

Responsibilities

  • Place new POs and follow up on existing POs and execution of tactical processes related to purchasing.
  • Work to negotiate favorable pricing with vendors/suppliers
  • Establish contract terms with suppliers and drive ongoing supplier optimization to ensure that organizational metrics are achieved and manage the supply base, including negotiating, supplier OTD, and forecasting.
  • Identify and facilitate continuous improvement activities to drive reduction in indirect spend.
  • Collaborate with and support production planning and Value Stream to ensure timely delivery to our customers
