About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Buyer III to support research and development efforts for Counter-Unmanned Systems (C-UxS) programs at NSWC Crane. The role purchases a variety of materials, supplies, and services and handles supplier selection, negotiation, order follow-up, claims, and supplier performance evaluation. The position requires substantial understanding of its area of specialization and independent judgment in resolving complex purchasing problems. Work generally receives little to no instruction on routine assignments and may be reviewed upon completion for consistency with departmental objectives. The position is listed as remote, with a preference for candidates able to work a hybrid schedule of three days onsite and two days remote. An active U.S. government Secret security clearance is required, and U.S. citizenship is required to maintain that clearance.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience, or a master's degree and 3+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess an active U.S. government Secret security clearance.
U.S. citizenship is required to maintain a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Purchase a variety of materials, supplies, and services.
Evaluate bids, select and recommend suppliers, and negotiate price, delivery, quality, and service.
Follow up on awards until completion of the order.
Negotiate and settle with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, returns of materials, over shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes.
Conduct supplier site visits and rate suppliers based on production capability, performance, and delivery.
