About The Position

This Buyer II position is located at the Arizona State Prison Complex (ASPC) – Phoenix and will primarily be responsible for state property management, including conducting inventories, writing reports, and transferring property. A secondary responsibility will be serving as a backup buyer.

  • Ability to learn and adhere to Arizona Procurement Code and Departmental policies and procedures related to purchasing

  • Ability to prepare and analyze detailed reports and documents
  • Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment
  • Must maintain acceptable driving records and complete any required driver training
  • Must take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter
  • Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)

Nice To Haves

  • Two years experience equivalent to a Buyer I
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in purchasing and one year of experience

Responsibilities

  • Purchases goods and services for the complex
  • Coordinates and prepares purchase orders
  • Maintains state awarded contract files
  • Writes detailed specifications for supplies, materials, equipment services unavailable through State Procurement contracts
  • Conducts research for requests for bids and writes bid analysis and evaluations
  • Determines vendors for formal bids and makes recommendations for purchase orders
  • Trains, coordinates, and supervises staff
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
