We are currently seeking a person who identifies strongly with our mission and core values to join our team as a Buyer II for our Aerospace Division. Purpose: In coordination with production planners and schedulers, manage the purchase of materials from assigned suppliers to support on-time delivery to customers and the organization’s procurement goals.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred. May substitute 2+ years of aerospace equivalent experience in procurement, planning, scheduling, or supply chain.
  • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems, inventory management, and forecasting.
  • Ability to interpret bills-of-materials, routings, engineering drawings, and material certifications.
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials and regulations. Ability to understand and comprehend an OEM multilevel specification system.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards and manufacturing best practices.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities, critical thinking skills, vendor negotiation experience, proficiency in MS Excel and Word, and prioritization, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Keen sense of responsibility, initiative, and teamwork.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
  • Ability to follow clear instructions and provide prompt feedback or results.

Responsibilities

  • Review ERP, customer orders, forecasts, inventory, lead times, and history to purchase materials at the right quantity and time.
  • Negotiate delivery terms, dates, and conditions for the purchase of required materials from suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers. Request and review quotations, monitor quality and delivery performance, update supply chain metric reports, maintain supplier files, update item master variables in ERP system, and coordinate returns for rejected material.
  • Identify delays and shortages to take proactive steps to eliminate their impact on manufacturing need dates. Work with cross functional groups to resolve obstacles before they impact customer delivery. Escalate issues to supervisor.
  • Work cross-functionally in resolving discrepancies related to purchasing, delivery, receiving, supplier invoices, and payment to the supplier.
  • Maintain supplier portals to support ordering of materials and updating usage forecasts.
  • Enter and update standard costs.
  • Assist with identifying and developing new suppliers.
  • Comfortable with participating in internal and external audits.
  • Maintain working relationships with, but not limited to individuals in planning, scheduling, warehouse, production, engineering, quality assurance, accounting, and customer service.
  • Maintain job related documentation as well as written and verbal communications.
  • Contribute to lean initiatives and procurement improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
