About The Position

The Ford Supply Chain team adds critical value to the entire organization. This role involves building strong, mutually beneficial relationships with diverse suppliers, sourcing high-quality parts globally, and progressing towards sustainability goals, all while ensuring optimal cost and on-time delivery. The successful candidate will lead in establishing a robust exterior glass supply base to continually produce vehicles customers want and value, contributing significantly to Ford’s overall success. This Supply Chain Commodity Buyer will lead Ford's North American Exterior Glass commodity, addressing the need for new/additional glass technologies driven by the evolution of combustion and electric vehicles (EV). The role requires a self-starter to become an expert in exterior glass, helping Ford source technologies that meet customer needs in the combustion/EV market, maintaining strong relationships with the current supply base, and ensuring parts are of the highest quality, optimal cost, and delivered on-time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering
  • 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, and/or sourcing experience
  • Previous Purchasing experience with glass, electrical, mechanical, or physical components
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and analyze data to enable operational decision-making
  • Ability to conduct sourcing evaluations / business case studies and present clear recommendations to leadership
  • Ability to build network relationships with cross-functional skill teams (PD, STA, finance, and OGC)
  • Project management skills and process discipline

Responsibilities

  • Know the exterior glass commodity parts and understand cost drivers to deliver cost targets
  • Develop, maintain, and execute the glass Commodity Business Plan (CBP) strategy
  • Foster professional and healthy supplier partnerships
  • Lead, plan, develop, and implement supplier commercial negotiations
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams regionally and/or globally
  • Quote, negotiate and source suppliers for the purchase price of production parts, and tooling
  • Complete sourcing activities and recommend suppliers for new program lamps
  • Establish and implement sourcing strategy for exterior glass (i.e., windshields, backlites, roof glass, etc.)
  • Assist in the resolution of cost, quality, and delivery issues affecting the supply
  • Support GCT Buyers in both Service and Production and cross-functional partners to develop strategies and implement solutions
  • Identify and implement cost reductions
  • Negotiate cost avoidances for suppliers requesting cost increases.
