About The Position

Hungerford is seeking an experienced Business Valuation Senior Manager to join their team. The Business Valuation team provides independent valuation and litigation support services to businesses throughout their lifecycle. This role is crucial for increasing capacity, strengthening referral relationships, and supporting the long-term continuity of the practice. The ideal candidate will lead complex valuation engagements, serve as a trusted advisor, and provide technical leadership, operating independently and managing engagements from start to finish. This position is key to expanding Hungerford's valuation capacity and positioning the practice for future success as part of long-term succession planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • 10+ years of business valuation experience
  • ABV, ASA or CVA credential required
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead valuation engagements from start to finish
  • Strong technical knowledge of valuation methodologies, financial analysis, and business appraisal standards
  • Experience preparing valuation reports for purposes such as mergers and acquisitions, estate and gift tax planning, succession planning, divorce, shareholder disputes, litigation support, and financial reporting
  • Established referral network, particularly with attorneys and other professional advisors
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client and referral relationships
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive approach to solving complex client matters
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in helping grow and strengthen a specialized advisory practice

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex business valuation and quality of earnings engagements from planning through final report delivery, ensuring high-quality analyses, reports, and client service.
  • Increase Hungerford’s capacity to serve clients with business valuation and litigation support needs.
  • Perform and review financial statement analysis, valuation modeling, industry research, and written reports utilizing appropriate methodologies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business owners, attorneys, and other professional advisors navigating ownership transitions, disputes, tax planning matters, and other valuation-related needs.
  • Develop and strengthen referral relationships with attorneys, bankers, wealth advisors, CPA firms, and other centers of influence to support continued growth of the practice.
  • Apply senior-level technical expertise to independently manage engagements with limited oversight while maintaining exceptional quality and responsiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve valuation processes, deliverables, and quality control measures to enhance efficiency, consistency, and client experience.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance as the valuation team continues to grow.
  • Expand the visibility and reach of Hungerford’s business valuation services throughout West Michigan and beyond.
  • Support the long-term continuity and succession of the valuation practice by helping preserve institutional knowledge and strengthen future leadership within the service line.
