About The Position

As a Business Systems Analyst for PCL Constructors Inc. in Nisku, Alberta (Industrial), you'll have the opportunity to lead the analysis, design, and successful delivery of technology solutions that support an industrial piping fabrication shop. This role works closely with shop supervision, planners, quality, materials, engineering, and IT partners to ensure systems effectively support fabrication, inspection, production tracking, and logistics workflows. This role is located in Nisku and is being offered as a 12 month contract position.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of business analysis experience is required.
  • Post-secondary education in information systems, information technology, business administration, commerce, computing science or a related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting industrial operations, fabrication, construction, manufacturing, or field‑based environments.
  • Experience supporting or integrating systems related to production, quality, materials, documents, or asset tracking.
  • Comfortable working with high profile, aggressive project schedules.
  • Able to develop creative solutions to meet customer needs for pipe fabrication processes and software.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with software implementations, software development life cycle methodologies, business process re-engineering, and organizational change management.
  • A positive attitude with a passion and commitment to project success.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage shop floor personnel and senior leadership alike.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a practical, operations‑focused mindset.
  • Ability to work independently while leading multiple initiatives in parallel.
  • Comfortable working in active industrial environments and adapting to operational realities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business and system requirements for industrial fabrication processes (e.g., piping fabrication, QA/QC, materials tracking, production reporting).
  • Partner with fabrication shop leadership and subject matter experts to deeply understand current‑state operations, constraints, and improvement opportunities.
  • Gathers, documents, designs, validates, and gains sign off on business system user requirements.
  • Support and enhance systems used in fabrication environments, such as production tracking, weld tracking, inspection management, materials movement, and document control.
  • Ensure technology solutions align with shop floor realities, safety requirements, quality standards, and productivity targets.
  • Identify and assess impacts of system changes on fabrication workflows, resource planning, equipment usage, and reporting.
  • Leads workshops and build consensus with stakeholders and subject matter experts across multiple business units, acting as a primary point of contact between operations, technology teams, and external vendors.
  • Builds strong, trusted relationships with fabrication leadership and frontline personnel.
  • Creates and maintains business requirements and design training documentation and materials.
  • Interprets and communicates complex requirements clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strategically partners with the technical team to deliver robust and comprehensive solutions.
  • Manages and leads training rollouts to fabrication shop management and frontline workers.
  • Develop use case scenarios, user stories, and training material.
  • Validates designs and builds consensus with subject matter experts.
  • Creates and executes change management plans to drive acceptance, adoption, minimize resistance, and maximize engagement and efficiencies.
  • Provides robust, customer centric support to all users.
  • Tests the system configuration to identify issues and ensure configuration matches requirements.
