About The Position

Velera is seeking a Business Systems Analyst IV to serve as an enterprise-level liaison, shaping and driving Velera’s technology direction across teams and initiatives. This role will collaborate with product, engineering, data, platform, and business teams to ensure alignment with technology strategy, scalable design, and long-term organizational goals. The individual will act as a bridge between business strategy and technology execution, guiding teams in making informed decisions, promoting enterprise standards, and maintaining momentum on complex initiatives. The role involves articulating future-state technology vision, translating technical concepts into business outcomes, and guiding high-impact decisions. It utilizes advanced techniques to foster cross-functional collaboration, manage complexities, adopt best practices, and meet deliverables for medium to large projects. The Business Systems Analyst IV will facilitate high-level meetings and workshops with stakeholders and executives to discuss project and business strategies, ensuring alignment with business priorities and regulatory expectations. They will create and deliver executive-level presentations, analyze emerging technologies (API, data technologies), and translate technical jargon between various teams and stakeholders. Advanced emotional intelligence and active listening skills are crucial for building relationships with stakeholders and vendor partners. The role will monitor KPIs to measure the effectiveness of architecture alignment, governance, and delivery outcomes. It involves developing and delivering multi-mode communications tailored to different audiences, strategically leading research and analysis to identify trends, and collaborating with architecture and engineering leaders to ensure solutions align with enterprise direction, security, and compliance requirements (PCI, SOC2, FFIEC). The analyst will advise team members on Agile best practices and analysis techniques, potentially creating, refining, and maintaining user stories, epics, features, and acceptance criteria, and leading story estimations. They will collect, compile, and analyze data to identify trends and present findings to senior leadership. The role requires a strong bias toward action, making decisions, removing blockers, and maintaining momentum in ambiguous situations. Expertise in systems’ gap and impact analysis is needed to eliminate product inefficiencies and identify automation opportunities. The analyst will lead department initiatives with limited supervision and provide mentoring and training to junior team members and cross-functional teams. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
10+ years of business analysis in a technology, product, data, platform, or engineering experience required.
Strong understanding of modern technology ecosystems (cloud, data platforms, APIs, distributed systems, etc.).
Excellent communication and executive presence with the ability to facilitate meetings, conduct presentations utilizing influence decisions, and negotiate and build consensus with limited supervision.
Practical knowledge of debit/credit card processing, financial systems, mobile solutions, high-availability systems, and data safe-keeping practices.
Excellent understanding of the Agile/Lean methodologies.
The ability to perform detailed data mapping and data modeling, as well as create network topology diagrams, and process flow diagrams.

Nice To Haves

Experience in the financial and card payment industry is plus.
5+ years’ writing complex SQL queries are a plus.
5+ years’ experience in mapping business processes.
Experience with Azure Development Ops (ADO) is a big plus.

Facilitate high-level meetings and workshops with stakeholders and executives to discuss overall project and business strategies and roadmaps.
Create and deliver executive-level presentations and communications that translate technical topics into business value, risk, cost, and outcomes.
Analyze emerging technologies and tools including API and data technologies.
Utilize advanced emotional intelligence skills and active listening skills when communicating and building relationships with multiple stakeholders and vendor partners.
Monitor KPIs to measure the effectiveness of architecture alignment, governance processes, and delivery outcomes.
Develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
Strategically lead research and analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that aid in the decision making process of senior leaders and executives.
Collaborate with architecture and engineering leaders to ensure solutions align with enterprise direction, security expectations, and compliance requirements (PCI, SOC2, FFIEC).
Advise team members on Agile (Scrum or Kanban, as applicable) best practices and analysis techniques & tools.
Potentially create, refine, and maintain the User Stories/Requirements for a project, map the user stories to features, develop epics and features, define the acceptance criteria, and lead story estimations.
Collect, compile, and analyze data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform decision-making, then present these findings to senior leadership teams.
