Business Systems & AI Automation Developer

Triumph Group of CompaniesToronto, ON
CA$95,000 - CA$125,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Business Systems & AI Automation Developer works directly with our business units (Operations, Estimating, Finance, Marketing, and Field teams) to understand how work actually gets done, find where technology can help, and then build or connect the solution yourself. This is not a back-end role where tickets come to you. You go where the problem is, learn the environment, and deliver something that works for the people using it. The teams you work with will notice the difference when manual workarounds disappear and the tools you build actually get used.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in software engineering, systems integration, technical consulting, or a similar hands-on technical role
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, JavaScript/Node.js, or similar) for scripting, automation, and tool development
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and connecting systems using middleware, webhooks, or integration platforms (Zapier, Make, MuleSoft, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint, Power Automate).
  • A clear communicator who can explain technical concepts in plain language to people who are not technical
  • Curious by nature, you dig into how things work before deciding how to fix them
  • Comfortable with ambiguity (you can help define the problem when others are not sure where to start)
  • Focused on the end user, you care whether a solution actually gets picked up and used, not just delivered
  • Self-directed and accountable, you take ownership from the first conversation through to go-live

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with AI platforms and LLM APIs (Claude, OpenAI, or similar) to build practical AI-assisted workflows is a strong asset
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with business units (Operations, Estimating, Finance, Marketing, and Field teams) to understand pain points, map out existing workflows, and find where technology can make a real difference.
  • Design, build, and deploy software solutions, automation workflows, and system integrations that address specific operational needs
  • Connect and configure APIs between internal platforms and third-party tools so data flows reliably and securely across systems
  • Build and deploy AI-assisted tools and workflows using platforms like Claude or OpenAI to improve productivity, reporting, and day-to-day decision making
  • Translate what the business needs into clear technical specs and build from there, often without a separate business analyst or project manager in the mix
  • Configure and customize SaaS platforms and enterprise software to fit the specific needs of each business unit
  • Test with real users, gather feedback, and refine solutions after go-live to make sure they stick
  • Train end users and put together clear documentation so teams can run and maintain solutions on their own
  • Track and report on the impact of the work you deliver, including time saved, errors reduced, and efficiency gained
  • Stay on top of new tools and technologies and flag anything that could genuinely benefit the business

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, and vision)
  • Hybrid work arrangement with flexibility across business sites and remote work
  • Ongoing learning and development support for certifications, tools, and industry events
