The Business System Specialist (BSS) acts as a liaison between the line of business and Information Technology, representing end-users and business process owners in system requirements, implementations, and support. This role involves understanding departmental user needs, business procedures, processes, and systems. The incumbent defines user system requirements, provides user support, coordinates user acceptance testing for new tools, and consults on new technologies and features to improve business process efficiency. Responsibilities may include feasibility analysis, developing project scope, and recommending alternative solutions, project strategies, and deliverable prioritization. The BSS prepares and communicates business users’ system needs to Information Technology and represents these needs in the development of functional specifications. A key aspect of this role is understanding the technical needs of the system and collaborating with IT to ensure solutions meet technical, functional, and non-functional requirements. This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to report to their assigned office location at least one day per week, with the remaining days worked remotely based on business needs. The headquarters is the Oakland General Office.
