Business System Specialist
About The Position
As a Business System Specialist, you will help maintain the health, reliability, and performance of enterprise technology systems supporting large-scale business operations. This position blends network operations, incident response, process improvement, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure technology services remain stable, secure, and aligned with business objectives. Working alongside infrastructure engineers, operations teams, and business partners, you will support production environments, resolve technical issues, improve operational processes, and contribute to technology initiatives that enhance enterprise performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- 2+ years of experience supporting enterprise IT operations, network infrastructure, or technology services
- Experience working with enterprise incident management, problem management, and change management processes
- Knowledge of enterprise networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing, and switching
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills
- Experience working with enterprise ticketing or IT service management platforms
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure or Network Operations Center (NOC) environments
- Experience using ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Remedy, or similar ITSM platforms
- Agile, Scrum, Lean Six Sigma, ITIL, CCNA, CompTIA, PMP, or related certifications
- Experience supporting utility, construction, or critical infrastructure organizations
- Knowledge of network monitoring tools and enterprise infrastructure management platforms
- Experience leading or participating in process improvement initiatives
- Experience working within 24/7 production support environments
- Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
Responsibilities
- Monitor enterprise technology systems and support the resolution of network, application, and infrastructure issues
- Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate issue resolution across technical teams
- Support incident, problem, and change management activities following established IT service management practices
- Analyze operational data and system trends to identify opportunities for performance improvements
- Assist with software deployments, infrastructure upgrades, maintenance windows, and technology implementations
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve business processes and technology workflows
- Support process improvement initiatives utilizing ITIL, Lean, Agile, or similar methodologies
- Track key operational metrics and prepare reports that measure system performance and service delivery
- Participate in project planning, testing, and rollout activities for new technologies and system enhancements
- Communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership to provide project and operational updates
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that increase service reliability and operational efficiency
