You must be able to commute to our West 22nd Street office in New York. About The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Business Systems Analyst to support our Compass product capabilities. In this role, you will work with clients to observe, document, and analyze how they build commercial plans such as pricing, promotions, and volume assumptions, and how those decisions translate into financial outcomes. You will translate real-world planning workflows into actionable product requirements, helping shape simulation capabilities that allow users to evaluate and compare business scenarios, while ensuring features remain intuitive, accurate, and aligned with commercial decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 0-2 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, functional consultant, or related role, ideally within a SaaS, analytics, or CPG / trade finance / revenue management environment.
  • Proficiency with SQL for querying and analyzing large datasets, with the ability to validate data accuracy and investigate discrepancies across complex data models
  • Exposure to planning, forecasting, or scenario modeling tools (e.g., Excel-based models, BI tools, or SaaS planning platforms), with the ability to understand and document calculation logic and assumptions.
  • Familiarity with data modeling concepts, including how data is structured, transformed, and used to support analytics, reporting, and simulation use cases.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting client-facing discovery, process analysis, or requirements gathering engagements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex operational processes into structured, communicable findings.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with comfort presenting findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Familiarity with APIs, data structures, or system integrations.
  • Experience with BI or analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Experience using planning tools (Anaplan, SAP IBP, o9, etc.)
  • Experience using issue tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients to observe and documenting specific data processing and business workflows
  • Analyze client data administration processes to identify pain points, inefficiencies, and gaps in current tools and workflows with a particular focus on how scenario modeling, forecasting, and trade planning are performed.
  • Use SQL to query and validate client data, supporting deeper analysis of data volumes, promotional performance, financial metrics, and scenario outcomes, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of inputs used in simulations.
  • Compile and present structured findings from client engagements, including process maps, gap analyses, and prioritized feature recommendations.
  • Partner with Product Managers to translate client insights into clear, actionable requirements and functional specifications throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and data teams to ensure that data models, transformations, and calculation layers accurately support scenario simulations, including the integration of pricing, cost, forecast, and promotional data inputs.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships during engagements, ensuring a consultative and professional experience throughout each discovery project.
  • Contribute to defining success metrics, validation criteria, and acceptance standards for new features as they move through development.
  • Provide clarification on system behavior and expected functionality to internal teams.
  • Assist the Product Manager with requirements clarification, functional documentation, and refinement of specifications as needed.
