The Business Solutions Engineer acts as a crucial link between business operations and the IT department, a function not previously established. This role involves embedding within business departments to help them maximize the value from existing tools like Microsoft 365 Copilot, SharePoint, Teams, and Power BI. The engineer will analyze how work is currently performed and develop solutions to streamline processes, either by building them directly or by defining the scope for IT administrators. The position is structured in two phases: Phase 1 focuses on enablement, driving the adoption of Copilot and the M365 suite, and educating departments on the effective use of SharePoint, Teams, and Power BI, while also managing the technology relationship between IT and business units. Phase 2 involves solution building, where, after departments are proficient and trust is established, processes will be re-engineered using automations, applications, and AI-assisted workflows. The emphasis is on adoption first, followed by advanced workflows. This role is the institution's first comprehensive requirements-to-implementation position, requiring the ability to both train users and build solutions, with the judgment to determine when to build directly and when to delegate to IT administrators. All solutions must comply with the institution's security and data governance standards. The individual will function as an enablement coach, process analyst, and solution builder, with success measured by friction reduction and solution adoption rather than the quantity of technology deployed.
