About The Position

The Business Services Accounts Payable Specialist, under the direct supervision of the Manager of Business Services, primarily supports the accounts payable function. This role involves reviewing documentation, entering payments into the online system, and communicating with campus partners to ensure that payments adhere to UMBC and State of Maryland policies. A hybrid telework schedule may be available.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Six years progressively responsible experience in a combination of budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and personnel work.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• High-level ability to analyze and problem solve.

Nice To Haves

• At least five years performing similar functions using PeopleSoft, e-procurement system, RStars

Responsibilities

• Review and approve documentation submitted through the e-procurement system (PAW), including invoices against purchase orders, contracts and payment requests.
• Ensure that the related information is accurate and complete, and that the payments are appropriate in accordance with UMBC and State of Maryland policies, and then upload the documentation to the State of Maryland.
• Review and resolve items on the RStars daily error report. Work with State Auditors to resolve discrepancies with documentation, vendor addresses, wires and other banking service issues.
• Work with vendors to reconcile outstanding invoice statements and facilitate payments with departments.
• Provide customer support and training on a wide number of issues, such as the PAW system, policies and procedures.
