About The Position

The North Carolina Child Support Program operates in accordance with Public Law 93-647, North Carolina General Statutes 110-128-141, and Federal Regulations. Services provided by the IV-D Program include the location of non-custodial parents, establishment of paternity and support, enforcement of support, and collection and distribution of support payments. North Carolina has approximately 426,571 child support cases for establishment and enforcement of child support court orders. This program is one of the few services available from the Division of Social Services that is not based on income level. Any citizen in North Carolina can receive our services upon request, upon payment of an application fee. The Child Support Program provides training, technical assistance, consultation, and program compliance monitoring to staff of local child support offices (100 counties and 1 tribe office). The tax intercept process is used in all appropriate Public Assistance (PA) and Non-Public Assistance (NPA) cases as provided for in Public Law (97-35 and 98-378, and in NCGS 105A. Federal regulations stipulate that the procedure is to be used in conjunction with other appropriate enforcement remedies. Tax intercept must be implemented for all cases that meet the criteria for submittal to state and/or federal revenue agencies. The primary purpose of this position is to manage passport denial and reinstatement, credit bureau reporting, unemployment income benefits, professional licenses, and bankruptcy processes. In addition, the position will be responsible for collection, analysis, and compilation of data for management and programmatic reporting. The position will work with the data provided through the ACTS system to collect child support. This position will assist in implementing procedures established by the supervisor. The position will be responsible for prioritizing workloads to ensure that the work is processed timely and accurately. This position will also provide management with data and information regarding the cases and collections processed by the unit. This position will serve as backup to the tax intercept team during heavy tax season for the purpose of researching applicable offsets and processing of tax waivers. This position must be able to start and complete tasks within a short period of time and with accuracy.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
