About The Position

We’re hiring a Business Representative. The Rep will join the team that oversees the LORT, CAT, and Dinner Theatre contract, as well as BTE and a number of special agreements (e.g. Second City, Drunk Shakespeare, Casa Bonita). This is currently a hybrid position, and work hours are 9:00am - 5:00pm in LA or CH or 9:30am - 5:30pm in NY, Monday through Friday. Evening and Weekend work hours may be required at times, with the ability to flex your schedule. Requirements

Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
Ability to work proactively, independently, and in coordination with colleagues on various projects.
Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to work successfully with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and other database software
Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as Equity determines is necessary or desirable to meet its organizational needs.

Nice To Haves

Two (2) years related experience is highly preferred.
Experience with Microsoft CRM preferred.
Negotiating skills preferred

Responsibilities

Handles matters related to collective bargaining in assigned areas of the Union’s jurisdiction, including negotiation of contracts in consultation with and under the direction of a supervisor, and processing of concession requests and appeals.
Oversees administration of collective bargaining agreements in assigned areas, including: Process opening and closing of each production or season in collaboration with other Equity departments, ensuring compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements. Checking contracts for accuracy and compliance to Agreement(s). Filing and processing claims, rulings, and/or grievances on behalf of actors and stage managers. Providing front-line contract administration assistance to employees in the workplace. Responding to questions from members, prospective members, and employers regarding Equity and contract matters. Representing Equity at first rehearsals, disciplinary meetings, and other company meetings, in-person and remotely. Preparing materials relevant to NLRB charges, arbitrations, etc., in consultation with and under the direction of a supervisor.
Identify and pursue opportunities in the assigned areas to expand Equity’s strategic interests, including identifying member leaders, building relationships with allied organizations and sibling unions, and ensuring awareness of relevant industry issues.
Interact with and support committees and community groups in conjunction with other Equity departments.
Serve as staff point-person for assigned governance committees, as needed.
Assist members with urgent workplace issues, which may include emergency hotline coverage, as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
