About The Position

The Business Relationship Coordinator (BRC) is responsible for driving growth in the credit union’s business lending and deposit portfolio through proactive relationship development, community engagement, and strategic prospecting. This role focuses on originating quality small business loans, expanding business member relationships, and serving as a trusted advisor to small and mid-sized businesses within the credit union’s field of membership. The BRC represents the credit union in the community and works closely with underwriting, credit administration, treasury management, and retail teams to ensure a seamless member experience.

Requirements

  • 3–7+ years of experience in commercial/business lending or business development.
  • Demonstrated success in loan origination and relationship management.
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit analysis and loan structuring.
  • Excellent networking, negotiation, and consultative selling skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and tax returns.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and loan origination platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience within a credit union or community bank is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic calling plan to generate new small business loan and deposit relationships.
  • Proactively source and originate applications for all business loan types
  • Build centers-of-influence (COI) relationships (CPAs, attorneys, real estate brokers, developers, chamber leaders).
  • Represent the credit union at community and business networking events.
  • Expand wallet share within existing business members through cross-sell of deposits, treasury management, and ancillary services.
  • Structure loan opportunities consistent with credit union policy and risk appetite.
  • Partner with underwriting and credit teams to ensure timely analysis and approval.
  • Monitor portfolio quality, including covenant compliance and annual reviews.
  • Maintain strong asset quality with delinquency and charge-off levels within target thresholds.
  • Assist with renewal strategies and risk mitigation planning.
  • Serve as primary relationship manager for assigned portfolio.
  • Coordinate with retail branches, consumer lending, mortgage, and wealth teams to provide holistic member solutions.
  • Ensure exceptional service throughout origination, closing, and post-funding lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate CRM activity tracking and pipeline reporting.
  • Achieve monthly business loan production goals.
  • Grow business deposit balances and treasury services relationships.
  • Maintain portfolio quality within established risk metrics.
  • Maintain active calling and COI engagement metrics.
  • Demonstrate strong pipeline management and forecast accuracy.
