About The Position

The Food and Climate Program Coordinator leads efforts that advance Austin’s climate and food system goals by coordinating across City departments, community partners, and regional organizations to implement both the Austin Climate Equity Plan and the Austin/Travis County Food Plan. The role drives projects that expand urban agriculture, strengthen local food production, promote climate‑friendly and healthy diets, and improve access to fresh, culturally relevant food. It also manages contracts that support food‑system initiatives and serves as a key liaison between the City’s food and climate teams to enhance community resilience and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The purpose of the Business Process Consultant role is to provide project support to Department Directors and the Department Executive Team. This role provides consulting services to process leaders and team leaders, analyzes and presents alternatives, makes recommendations, and provides assistance for resolving business and technical issues confronting process leaders and team leaders in the areas of planning, performance measurement, change management, and periodic assessment review. The successful candidate will be highly organized and adept at multi-tasking, with strong time management skills and will thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

Requirements

  • Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to the job, plus three (3) years' experience related to the job.
  • Knowledge of business strategies, objectives, planning, development and management processes and process improvement
  • Knowledge of performance measures
  • Knowledge of applicable City of Austin, state and federal statutes, ordinances and codes
  • Knowledge of research methodologies, cost/benefit, analysis, statistics and financial models
  • Skill in communication in a variety of formats including: print communication, electronic format, presentations and telephonic
  • Skill in providing internal consulting services
  • Skill in project management methods
  • Skill in negotiation of projects and program initiatives
  • Interpersonal skills to engage all stakeholders and facilitate accurate requirements to capture and manage stakeholders' expectations

Responsibilities

  • Leads multiple process improvement teams
  • Develops project work plans, project management and periodic assessment
  • Facilitates the development of stakeholder analysis and communication plans for process improvement teams
  • Identifies, collects, and researches to complete data analysis
  • Makes recommendations to project teams and recommends organizational change utilizing appropriate talent
  • Advises process leaders and team leaders in defining/identifying key measurers and setting performance targets
  • Develops and improves models and methodologies for the department
  • Reviews and critiques the work of functional team staff
  • Communicates project and program information to all levels of the organization
  • May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others.
