About The Position

This position is responsible for analyzing the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes and operational performance for a leading retailer in the competitive gas and electricity industry. The Business Analyst also is responsible for identifying, recommending, coordinating, and implementing improvements that result in supporting sales to achieve targets, lowering operational costs, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • 1+ years of data analysis experience (retail energy a plus)
  • Strong capability in using SQL – must be able to read & write queries
  • Strong in Microsoft Office, especially ability to read & write formulas in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong in root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong in developing process maps/flows
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with both internal and external people
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment
  • Comfortable handling a diverse range of activities and initiatives
  • Strong time management skills with an ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated, proactive and takes ownership of work
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and clear oral/written communication skills
  • Experienced in pre-determining the impact of potential actions and effective in trade-off considerations/decision making
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines & initiatives concurrently
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, and other office equipment
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time on computer
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to work in time-sensitive, fast-paced environment with changing demands & non-flexible deadlines
  • Must be willing to work long hours
  • Ability to speak, read and write English (Spanish a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for improving business processes through information systems and/or non-system driver changes
  • Prepare recommendations & proposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes
  • Perform data extracts, analytics and researching using operational data from a variety of sources, including data warehouse, customer information, billing & transaction, web, and voice response systems
  • Analyze errors and trace them back to their root cause, then develop/implement systematic and/or process fixes, rather than repetitive data fixes
  • Consolidates information into cohesive and understandable performance management and other operational reports for use in leadership/management communications and organizational decision-making
  • Make recommendations to improve operational metrics and reconcile data provided from various sources to ensure operations are within acceptable tolerances and document & pursue corrections for any deviations
  • Track department key performance indicators and provides recommendations to improve metrics where applicable
  • Work with cross functional groups to gather and document process/system improvement requirements
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
