About The Position

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. (SEWS) is seeking a Business Planner I - Procurement who is bilingual in Japanese and English. This is a hybrid position, requiring at least four days in the Farmington Hills, Michigan office per week, with flexibility for off-site work. The role involves assisting with departmental budget preparation and tracking, implementing efficiency measures, and transitioning manual operations to automated processing.

Requirements

1-3 years business accounting/finance experience.
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management or the equivalent relevant experience.
Ability to work productively, prioritize action items and produce results while also being flexible to environmental changes.
High degree of analytical skills and ability to structure and process qualitative or quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions.
Superior written and verbal communication skills in English and Japanese.
Business level fluency in Japanese language.
Strives to be a team player throughout the department and all areas of the company.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in Tier 1 automotive environment and electronics preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with departmental annual and quarterly budget preparation and tracking in accordance with internal timelines.
Implement efficiency measures that transition departmental manual operation to automated processing.
Support annual cost reduction initiatives and tariff planning.
Assist in managing 1st quarter and 3rd quarter performance results and budget finalization.
Support data analysis for monthly price parts variance reports.
Assist with process improvements for various manual systems.
Coordinate supplier communication related to Business Continuity Plan, tariff notifications and UFLPA compliance.
Manage data and documentation for annual audits.
