About The Position

The Business Performance Specialist supports the activities of the MO Regulated Field Operations Support and Analysis department. This role interacts with the Energy Delivery SVP, Directors, and various Ameren Controllers and personnel. Key responsibilities include interacting with leadership, supervisory, and engineering personnel on matters related to Energy Delivery budgets and forecasts. The role involves preparing and submitting the annual budget, researching and advising on significant variances between actual and budgeted expenditures, and assisting operating personnel in preparing business cases for proposed budgetary items. Additionally, the specialist will produce and review internal financial/operational reports, create new automated reports as necessary, prepare external regulatory filings with the Missouri Public Service Commission, and identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, procedures, and controls. The role also requires analyzing various source systems and their data to make recommendations for process changes that drive consistency and improve future reporting and analysis. Assisting in the development of department/segment procedures to ensure compliance with corporate policies, serving on or leading cross-functional teams, and demonstrating technical subject matter expertise or overall business acumen are also key aspects. The specialist will assist the Manager with special projects and prepare specialized reports and confidential documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • Three or more years relevant accounting experience (understanding of accounting, budget preparation and statistical analysis) required without an advanced degree or certification.
  • One or more years relevant accounting experience (understanding of accounting, budget preparation and statistical analysis) required with Master’s Degree or CPA/CMA/CFA.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • Five or more years of relevant accounting experience (accounting, budget preparation, and statistical analysis) required.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications and advanced level proficiency with Excel is required.
  • Good organizational, problem-solving, analytical, communication, and human relations skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor reports, solve problems and be decisive, proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently on multiple tasks requiring priority setting and deadlines.
  • Must show initiative and attention to detail and work well in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree or CPA/CMA/CFA preferred.

  • Working knowledge of specific Ameren applications (UIP, General Ledger, Power Plant, IMR, EMPRV, Maximo, TRIS, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities
