About The Position

The Business Partner, Internal Communications and Engagement collaborates across the organization to communicate key organizational initiatives and is responsible for crafting clear and engaging internal communications across a wide range of subjects and channels. The role manages the implementation of communications of sensitive and confidential matters impacting employees, including employee issues and organizational changes, and creates opportunities to drive engagement and connection through digital platforms such as the Corporate Intranet, Town Halls, and other internal channels. Engagement will uphold communication standards, driving employee engagement, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and proactively building strategies to address them. You will encourage the cultural values of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) within your internal communications and employee engagement strategies. This role works cross-functionally with all departments including (but not limited to) the Lead Executive Officer, Executive team, HR, Operations, Legal, Finance, Client Experience, Marketing and Project Management to identify opportunities to develop and manage internal communication strategies that support the organization’s business objectives and drive employee engagement and connections. This role ensures that sensitive and confidential employee communications, key strategy initiatives, change management, critical incidents, and crisis communications processes are managed in a compelling and tactful way, ensuring all employees, regardless of region or function, are considered. Requirements

  • Requires a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related discipline supplemented by a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in communications.
  • Experience preparing stories, pitches, blogs, issues updates, briefings notes, events, speeches and presentations.
  • Experience planning and managing external earned communication plans, strategies, and programs.
  • Experience with issues management and crisis communications, including sensitive, confidential information.
  • High level of confidentiality and tact.
  • Experience with earned media communication tools and platforms.
  • Experience assessing the effectiveness of external issues communications programs.
  • Experience advising members of the senior management and executive team.
  • Ability to quickly establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working closely with internal and external cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve communications and business objectives.
  • Superior writing, editing, and strategic communications skills.
  • Advanced web-based skills, including sentiment analysis, social measurement, presentations, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and other platforms when required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Self-starter with excellent presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and oversee internal communications, including sensitive and confidential communications and engagement strategies that effectively communicate strategic information to employees. Manages the organization’s internal communications calendar.
  • Content creation and distribution including, Executive Communications, employee engagement and culture campaigns, supporting key organizational information from all departments, presentations, briefing notes, speeches, video scripts, internal newsletters, Town Hall, webinars, blogs, surveys, Leader toolkits, and articles for the employee intranet, to support business goals and objectives. Designs visually appealing graphics such as banners, posters, infographics and PDF documents, for the company intranet, office screens, and other platforms as requested. Manages the company intranet, Teams channels, and newsletter, utilizing tools available to update and maintain content and navigation, ensuring a visually appealing, streamlined, and user-friendly experience.
  • Supports the Leader, Internal Communications and Engagement in advancing Technical Safety BC’s organizational culture by implementing communications and employee engagement initiatives, including our annual employee engagement survey, that reinforce our purpose, values, and cultural norms. Supports Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) work and Employee Resource Groups by implementing communications strategies that reflect Technical Safety BC’s commitment to a respectful, inclusive, and values driven workplace.
  • Working collaboratively with employees at all levels of the organization including Leaders, Directors, Vice Presidents, and the LEO to provide support and guidance on internal communications strategies to ensure a consistent approach across the organization. Partners cross-functionally with teams and leaders across the business including People & Culture, Marketing, IT and others. Implements programs that foster two-way dialogue with the Executive team, and ensures information is shared with our employees in a timely and considered way.
  • The Business Partner, Internal Communications is identified as a member of Technical Safety BC’s crisis communications team. Key contributor and responsible for implementation of internal communications during critical incidents and crisis situations, including, issues management and proactive planning activities, partnering with key stakeholders to ensure business continuity, and keeping the organization and employees informed during a crisis or incident.
  • Performs regular content and audience analysis and feedback channels to gain insights that drive ongoing internal communication strategies. Continually improves, measures, and evaluates effectiveness of employee communications strategy and methods.
  • Manage and produce key events including all-employee Town Hall meetings, LEO updates, Executive and Director ‘Ask me Anything’ sessions, Leadership Meetings, culture events, and other internal engagement events. Working with employees at all levels across the organization and external vendors where required to manage the end-to-end event process.
