The Steam Generator Replacement Team (SGRT) project is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon, United and Framatome, located in Kincardine, Ontario. SGRT is a part of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) project and includes the removal of the steam generators at Unit 3 and 4 and the installation of replacement steam generators with related plant modifications. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064. In addition to the existing contracts for Unit 3 and Unit 4, SGRT has signed a long-term Preferred Supplier Agreement for steam generator replacements at the plant’s remaining units as part of the Bruce Major Component Replacement project. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources and the Project Director of the Joint Venture Project, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as the strategic and operational single point of contact for all Joint Venture employees assigned to the SGRT project. This hands-on, dynamic generalist role supports the full employee lifecycle for the SGRT project teams, advising Managers and Employees on talent acquisition, onboarding, HR administration, training and development, employee engagement, workforce planning, performance and talent management, and employee relations. The HRBP is expected to operate effectively in a fast-paced, unionized/nuclear project environment, balancing the needs of the project, partner companies, and employees, while ensuring alignment to applicable policies, collective agreements (where applicable), and legislative requirements.

Requirements

  • Post secondary school education in Human Resources Management
  • A minimum of 5 years’ HR Generalist experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and matrixed environment with high resiliency and strong prioritization skills
  • Superior problem-solving skills, ability to demonstrate agility in creating valuable solutions to complex issues quickly
  • Versatility in HR portfolio is required; full scope employee life cycle, compensation, recruitment, talent management are a must
  • Tactful and effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact with all levels within the organization and influence as required
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to digest complex issues and simplify to enable appropriate action
  • Ability to build a consensus among peers to support human resources strategies
  • Working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and HR best practices; ability to interpret and apply policies, agreements, and site-specific requirements in a consistent, defensible manner
  • Strong HR analytics capability (metrics, trends, root-cause analysis) with advanced proficiency in MS Excel and experience using HRIS/ATS and reporting tools to enable data-driven decisions
  • Demonstrated change management, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without authority and navigate competing priorities across partner organizations
  • Mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment
  • Background check process includes a full security check and clearance process as well as reference checks
  • The security clearance process includes a comprehensive list of previous residences, employment, education, and other pertinent information

Nice To Haves

  • Working towards CHRL designation
  • Organizational development experience is highly desirable
  • Those with a valid Bruce Power security clearance are strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Partner with project leadership to build succession, mobilization/demobilization and retention plans
  • Develop and maintain HR dashboards/metrics providing insights and recommendations to resource planning
  • Ensure consistent application of JV and partner policies by establishing clear governance, maintaining auditable documentation, and supporting investigations and corrective actions in collaboration with leadership and applicable partner HR teams
  • Advise clients on role requirements, development of role profiles, and job analysis
  • Provide headcount projection and strategic workforce planning support
  • Interview alongside hiring managers, performing thorough candidate assessments
  • Conduct compensation impact analysis as required, for various purposes including streamlining and organizational structure analysis, market data assessments and recommendations
  • Work with the Home Company Human Resources team on any disability case management
  • Effective situation/ conflict management, working closely with managers to ensure employee relations issues are handled professionally and timely
  • Proactive outreach HR communications (supporting town halls, leadership/ operational team meetings, etc.)
  • Case management and investigations
  • Coaching managers and employees as required, applying progressive discipline principles as appropriate
  • JV Policy interpretation and application
  • Work closely with applicable home company HR teams to facilitate promotions, demotions, transfers, relocations, retirements, and terminations in a professional manner. Ensuring balance between project and employee needs
  • Support managers with performance management and objective setting during the regular cycle as well as when required. Effectively creating clear connections to Project plans
  • Facilitate Talent Reviews for the project teams and ensure appropriate follow up on actions
  • Ensure training needs for the business are evaluated and appropriate training selected, reinforced and tracked
  • Support succession management initiatives and ensure appropriate succession plans are in place for the project
  • Support the roll-out of various home company corporate initiatives as required and alter if necessary to suit the JV
  • Work closely with the home company Human Resources teams to keep them continually up to date of all project Human Resources issues
