About The Position

This role manages the day-to-day activities of an operations unit/ business area. Ensures that processes are conducted efficiently, timely and according to established policies and procedures, may assign, prioritize and monitor work. This position requires advanced skills and expertise in a range of products and services, processes, procedures and systems in a set of focus areas, where transactions could be characterized by moderate risk. The role involves gathering and analyzing data to identify and solve problems, escalating as appropriate, and using judgment and understanding of process/policy risk when recommending exceptions outside general practices or guidelines. The Business Operations Support Lead I may act as a team lead, coordinating the work of others and providing coaching to maintain service, process and product standards. The focus of work spans from daily, weekly to monthly activities and requires full proficiency in a range of technical processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience. Solid knowledge of the business unit/operational functions as well as regulatory issues/requirements for jurisdictions supported is also required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Requires advanced skills and expertise in a range of products and services, processes, procedures and systems in a set of focus areas, where transactions could be characterized by moderate risk.
  • Requires full proficiency in a range of technical processes and procedures through job related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a range of work assignments.
  • Requires solid knowledge of the business unit/operational functions as well as regulatory issues/requirements for jurisdictions supported.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day activities of an operations unit/ business area.
  • Ensures that processes are conducted efficiently, timely and according to established policies and procedures.
  • May assign, prioritize and monitor work.
  • Gathers and analyzes data to identify and solve problems, escalates as appropriate.
  • Uses judgement and understanding of process/policy risk when recommending exceptions outside general practices or guidelines.
  • May act as a team lead, coordinating the work of others and providing coaching to maintain service, process and product standards.
  • Manages activities and all administrative functions for an assigned department, including making sure schedules and deadlines are met.
  • Develops and communicates changes in work standards and/or procedures.
  • Assists management with maintenance of department assets.
  • May recommend changes to policies and procedures to ensure more efficient processing of work and conformance with Company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides assistance/training to junior staff as required.
  • Assists in monitoring the performance of operational units and suggests process improvement initiatives.
  • Prioritizes and manages own workload to meet SLA requirements for service and productivity.
  • Understands and applies operating policies and procedures.
  • Follows internal and industry regulations and operating practices in completing and recording transactions for either the organization or clients.
  • Escalates nonstandard or high-risk activities as necessary.
  • Ensures documentation that is prepared/completed is accurate and properly reflects business intentions and is consistent with relevant rules/regulations.
  • Completes investigations – reports/escalates risk issues or process gaps identified.
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Ensures necessary due diligence to support the accuracy of all activities.
