About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Business Operations Specialist to lead critical financial operations within Sun Devil Athletics (SDA). This role ensures financial integrity and NCAA compliance and guidelines, Big-12 rules and regulations, as well as the policies of Sun Devil Athletics, the University and the Arizona Board of Regents. This position supports SDA's strategic goals while managing 501(c)(3) tax regulation, annual audits, and serving our student athletes and staff. Responsibilities span accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting with a focus on operational efficiency and fiscal accountability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field AND two (2) years of professional accounting experience; OR, six (6) years professional accounting experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Business Operations Support Process requisition requests, invoices, and PCard transactions.
  • Manage travel requests and expense reports for team activities and SDA leadership.
  • Plan and support financial and internal business operations to ensure seamless execution.
  • Collaborate and serve as the financial contact within internal departments (e.g., Tax Services, Financial Services, ASU Foundation/Enterprise Partners) and external partners (e.g., auditors).
  • Review and recommend updates to rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Represent SDA in meetings and conferences as required.
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance Prepare and analyze complex financial data for budgets, capital projects, endowments, and special events.
  • Ensure compliance with 501(c)(3) regulations, NCAA guidelines, and institutional policies to maintain financial stability.
  • Provide actionable financial updates and analyses to SDA leadership as needed.
  • Coordinate and participate in internal and external audits.
  • Account Management Complete monthly and year-end entries and transfers for various Athletics Departments.
  • Prepare detailed journal entries, maintain complex ledgers, and reconcile and analyze reports, deposits.
  • Process and manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • May assist in preparing, reporting, and analyzing operational budgets across SDA.
  • Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned to support SDA’s strategic and operational goals.
